Department: HUB Management/Infrastructure

Reports To: Head of Growth & Strategy

Contract Type: Fixed-Term (6 months), with performance-based bonus on target achievements

Location: Research Hub, Malawi

Start Date: ASAP

Position Summary

The Seed Development Administrator will establish and lead GGEM’s seed development initiatives. This role requires expertise in building systems from the ground up, focusing on legume and grain research. Over a 6-month tenure, the administrator will create scalable systems to meet organizational objectives, transitioning to periodic support as needed thereafter.

Key Responsibilities

1. Build the Seed Development Program

  • Develop foundational systems and processes for seed development.

  • Design and implement frameworks for legume and grain trials.

  • Collaborate with leadership to set strategic targets and milestones.

2. Research and Development

  • Lead seed trials to improve germination rates, pest resistance, and yields.

  • Analyze data to inform future research and practical applications.

  • Identify innovative practices to enhance seed development.

3. Develop Best Practices and Training Modules

  • Create guidelines for seed handling, pest management, and sustainable farming.

  • Train staff on agronomic techniques to ensure knowledge transfer.

4. Monitoring & Reporting

  • Establish systems to monitor seed performance and crop health.

  • Prepare detailed reports on achievements, challenges, and recommendations.


Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor’s or advanced degree in Agronomy, Agriculture, or a related field.

Experience:

  • 3–5 years in seed development or agricultural research.

  • Proven experience in establishing programs or systems from scratch.

  • Specialization in legume crops; familiarity with grains is a bonus.

Skills:
